Experienced Counter Sales positions (Crawley – RH10 9RD, Pulborough – RH20 1AQ, Cranleigh – GU6 8RZ).

Laker is expanding; If you are an Experienced Merchant Sales Person with a proven track record of selling building products, then this will be an excellent opportunity to work for a dynamic growing organisation!

Providing a point of contact for customers on the sales counter, dealing with enquiries over the phone and face to face, whilst maintaining high levels of customer service in order to maximise sales potential.

Because it’s all about making sure the customers get the best experience when they visit a Laker Builders Merchant, your role includes:

  • Build effective working relationships with customers, in order to understand their requirements thus ensuring that the correct products are supplied.
  • Use initiative to identify sales opportunities and offer advice and solutions to customers, thus maximising profitable sales and margin.
  • Maintain a clean and effectively merchandised counter area in line with company policy.
  • Ensure that company policies are followed at all times when producing paperwork associated with sales.
  • Liaise with suppliers where necessary.
  • Support the Branch Manager and colleagues in working as a team to ensure the branch operates efficiently and effectively within company policy. Helping yard staff when possible.
  • Ensure a tidy working environment at all times in line with health and safety guidelines.
  • Actively safeguard against theft of company goods or property by being security conscious at all times.
  • Perform any other duties as may be deemed necessary or as may be required by the company.

We are looking for someone with a proven track record of sales within the building merchanting / Builder Merchant industry who will also need:

Yard Foreman Pulborough – RH20 1AQ

We are currently recruiting for an Experienced Builders Merchant Yard Foreman for our Pulborough branch.

Job Summary:

To supervise the yard team and lead by example for a growing Builders Merchant providing service levels the national merchants simply cannot. Responsible for yard staff and to ensure that all deliveries, company and customer requirements met on time safely and to a high standard. In this exciting role, you will use your dedication and enthusiasm to undertake warehouse and yard duties to promote and maximise sales whilst at all times ensuring customer needs are met and exceeded. Knowledge or experience of perpetual stock take desirable.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing yard operations, motivating and coaching yard operatives.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures when booking customer deliveries in and out.
  • Manage the picking of customer orders and booking in, servicing and stock management of customer returns.
  • Overseeing all necessary paperwork is completed accurately and returned to the administration team.
  • Ensure that returns are followed in line with Company procedures.
  • Supervise yard operatives to ensure their workload is prioritised to ensure returns and deliveries are completed on time.
  • Liaise closely working and reporting to Pulborough branch manager ensuring effective communication about the status of workloads.
  • Ensure that daily checks on yard machinery and forklifts are carried out and documented.
  • Assess training needs where required for yard team including new employees and liaise with Transport manager to supply.
  • Supervise depot forklift truck operations and ensure that all equipment is safely stored and stacked.
  • Responsible for yard layout and stock management.
  • Oversee day to day stock levels and Perpetual Indexing.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership skills and a proven track record in supervisory experience is essential.
  • Previous training in IOSH Working safely would be desirable.
  • Computer literate.
  • Flexible and willing to support the needs of the business.
  • Highly motivated with the ability and desire to make a difference.
  • Take ownership for improving safety standards and creating a safety-first environment.
  • Be able to coach and support the yard team building a positive team environment.
  • Be passionate about providing exceptional customer service.
  • Fork Lift experience.

Hi-Ab – HGV Driver Crawley – RH10 9RD

An experienced customer delivery driver with full HGV licence, you will be required to safely deliver building materials to our customers whilst representing the company based from our Crawley headquarters.  A mandatory clean licence with a professional approach towards your vehicle the high standards of safety and duty of care will be mandatory. In addition, your job role will include supporting your colleagues within the branch, yard and warehouse.

We are looking for someone with:

  • A valid full HGV Class 2 licence, must have HIAB ticket with remote and rear wheel steer experience.
  • Full CPC card required.
  • Previous experience completing multi-drop deliveries.
  • 3 years + experience delivering mainly West Sussex.Experience and Qualifications:
    • Needs to be able to work with the team and has a conscientious attitude towards stock and equipment.
    • Should have experience in delivering building materials and a friendly “can do” attitude.
    • Previous training in IOSH Working safely would be desirable.
    • Computer literate.
    • Flexible and willing to support the needs of the business.
    • Highly motivated with the ability and desire to make a difference.
    • Take ownership for improving safety standards and creating a safety-first environment.
    • Be passionate about providing exceptional customer service.
    • ForkLift experience.

An experienced customer delivery driver to drive a 3.5 tonne tipper or dropside. You will be required to safely deliver building materials to our customers whilst representing the company based from our Crawley headquarters.  A mandatory clean licence is required, along with the ability to demonstrate a professional approach towards your vehicle the high standards of safety and duty of care will be necessary. In addition, your job role will include supporting your colleagues within the branch, yard and warehouse with general loading duties.

We are looking for someone with:

  • A valid clean licence.
  • Previous experience completing multi-drop deliveries for a merchant or similar.
  • 3 years + experience delivering mainly West Sussex.Experience and Qualifications:
    • Needs to be able to work with the team and has a conscientious attitude towards stock and equipment.
    • Should have experience in delivering building materials and a friendly “can do” attitude.
    • Previous training in IOSH Working safely would be desirable.
    • Forklift licence also desirable
    • Computer literate.
