DPC: Damp-Proof Course (DPC) is an impermeable polythene material designed to prevent moisture from passing through brick and block work and applied at floor level. Our rolls are available in a range of sizes, from 30m x 100mm to 30m x 600mm. DPM: Damp proof membrane is a large polythene sheet that is used under concrete floors to stop water rising up through the concrete and into the home. We stock this in 4 x 25M and 4 x 3M. It can also be cut to fit. Difference between damp proof course and damp-proof membrane? The main difference between damp proof course (dpc) and damp-proof membrane (dpm) is that dpc comes in rolls and is to go in brick work at floor level, whereas the dpm is sold in large sheets to cover a much wider area and is used under concrete floors. What are the uses for damp proof membranes? Damp proof membranes are most commonly used under concrete floors to prevent damp rising up the concrete and into the homes flooring. They are also commonly used in lofts with certain insulation materials like mineral wool. This is because if damp works its way into this type of insulation it can affect its insulating properties. How long does DPC and DPM last? If they are both fitted correctly dpc tends to last 20-25 years and dpm tends to last 30 years.
