At Laker, we offer a comprehensive selection of Carcassing including C24, C16 and regular treated Carcassing. There are many standards in graded Carcassing, such as C24 and C16, which refer to the strength grade of the timber so you can use the appropriate grade timber in construction work. Whilst there are twelve strength grades in the British Standards List of Structural Use of Timber Standard, C24 and C16 are the most widely used strength grades in the construction industry and these are the standards that Laker supply. When looking for regularised treated Carcassing, it is important to choose the right strength grade. For instance, C24 treated timber Carcassing is used to support heavy weights and more often used for outdoor construction requirements, including roofs and sheds etc. So, whilst C24 Treated Carcassing can be used for the same applications as C16 Carcassing, you should not use C16 Treated Carcassing as a replacement for the heavy-duty requirements of C24 treated timber. The strength of Graded Carcassing is based upon several factors within the timber, including defects such as fissures, cracks, check or splits, in-growing bark, alignment of the wood grain and even the number of knots present is considered when grading.
